Don't want to waste your time?
Not seeing topics or workshops that you want?

On the web site there are not many workshops that I offer, to youth or adults. That's because private people and groups have hired me to come out to their home, cottage, my studio or favourite location.  This has worked out very well and we have had a lot of fun.   You tell me what topics and techniques you would like covered .  I come with a plan and tailor the workshop to your needs. This works out very economical and is high in valued time.

Portugal Trip Newsletter

" Elke, where do I begin....You've done it again, you've organized an amazing trip that has allowed us to have unbelievable experiences....I look forward to the next time." Heather Z.

March 25- April 8, 2006 (15 days)

After three weeks back it still seems strange that the trip has come and gone. I cried the last day by the ocean at the awesome privilege of being able to visit this heaven on earth.

Betty and I hosted 20 Canadians, ages 39-80, artists, partners and friends for 15 glorious days in the blooming springtime of the Algave, Portugal. Gentle palm trees, blooming Mimosa, calla lilies, wild iris, shasta daisies, freshsia, and the sweet poignant scent of orange blossoms greeted us daily.

Rugged twelve story high golden fossil cliffs line the warm sandy beaches. Fishing boats dot the teal tropical waters in the early morning. A loud horn would signal an incoming boat. The fresh catch would available within hours at the fish market along the shore.

We had six intensive art days amongst Moorish architecture, castles, red tiled roofs, pottery, fishing villages, vanilla blooms, trumpet lily trees and cobble stone sidewalks. A wrong turn landed a few of us in ancient streets so narrow we had to fold in our car mirrors and hold our breath.

Gypsies and local farmers lined the markets with their wares of woolen sweaters, blankets, fresh sweet fruits and vegetables, fresh almonds, fig cakes and tourists trinkets.

I think the Portuguese think Canadians don't eat enough, our plates came so full and there were always many courses. Fish soup, fish salads, Baked fish, duck l'orange, and almond cake were some of our favourites.

All of us were prolific with many sketches, journals, paintings and over 10,000 pictures taken to remember the experiences. Many in our group were bird watchers and interested in the tropical vegetation.

At times we laughed so hard our cheeks and bellies hurt. It was contagious. Many new friendships were made, lives transformed, rest and healing transpired and creativity was inspired, in this most encouraging tour. A fabulous combination which we all celebrated!

As I sat in the plane ride home, I contemplated another trip, who knows where ... and look forward to traveling together again soon. Love and light, Elke
